Arsenal Project, Pennsylvania

Frick Building – Pittsburgh, PA built by the 19th Century Industrialist Henry Clay Frick and opened in 1902. In late July of 2017, in the middle of the night, a Section of cornice fell 20 stories, shattering on impact. The surrounding area was immediately closed. Arsenal Scaffold responded to an emergency call at 2:00 AM to provide immediate protection of the area. Arsenal immediately erected a scaffold on the corner in question to reach the area 300′ above the sidewalk. After a comprehensive inspection, it was determined the entire cornice needed to be stabilized. Because Arsenal completely trusts Coronet Scaffolding products, these products were chosen for the job to erect a scaffolding system on the remaining elevations reaching 46 frames into the Pittsburgh Skyline. A full weather enclosure and shoring system were incorporated in and around the cornice for full replacement and stabilization work, which is still ongoing. Work is scheduled to be completed in the Early Fall of 2018.
